New and Interesting Things

Hello Everybody!!

This is a random idea I got when I noticed a crack in the ceiling of my house’s entryway. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! It’s pretty random but hey, I’m a random person. 😀

N’joy!

(Must be read in English accent)

The Crack.

The crack in the ceiling.

The crack that transports you to a wonderful and mystical realm. One of gladness and despair, happiness and horror. A realm beyond one’s own imagination. A realm beyond beyond the stars and the limits time itself.

Once I was touched by the crack. And I was transported, drifted into the mystical realm. It was incomprehensible the things that I saw. While there, I met someone. We spoke, or rather, he spoke. He told of many things. Of unimaginably things this realm has to offer. But, also of the horror it bestows. We spoke, he croaked and life went on. However, I learnt a great deal from this small exchange. I learnt quite a lot of new and interesting things.

However, something was missing…

Although, quite a bit of knowledge was gained in this exchange, not satisfied still was my my insatiable thirst/quest for new and interesting things. For you see I am a doctor of new and interesting things. I search and I yearn for the unimaginable. I yearn that which cannot be understood.

So I wandered through the mystical realm of gladness and despair and on that journey I learned quite many a thing, quite many a new and interesting thing. But of these things i could not tell. For you see, they are unable to be comprehended. I myself a doctor of new and interesting things is just barely able to understand these things. For even though I have seen many years and many generations of life and of new and interesting things and have had so much training to understand new and interesting things, the wonderful and mystical realm of gladness and despair was such an abstract being. It could not be understood by even the brightest of minds.

Thus, I decided that I might one day find the missing part, the missing piece, link, thing, idea. Of what it was I did not know. So I stopped searching and retired. But, that is not the way in the mystical realm, which is beyond imagination so it did not last long. At some point (keep in mind the mystical realm of gladness and despair is beyond time itself), I realized.

I finally understood what the someone I had spoken with had meant, when he spoke of another ceiling and another crack in this realm of gladness and despair. So I set off, searching once again. I searched and searched. Until at last, I came upon it. The missing link, part, piece, thing, idea. I found it right when I was about to give up.

For, you see, I have found, that often when you think it is the end it is most certainly the beginning.

Three Words

Hey everyone!

This is a random scene that I came up with while listening to the Chasing Cars cover by Sleeping at Last. This is basically a romantic scene because it’s a love song. I might write a full story based of of it someday. I encourage you to listen to the song while reading it. Here’s the video.

Well without further ado…

N’joy!

She’s gone.

She’s gone for good.

Everyone’s gone.

I’m scared.

No. I’m petrified.

“You okay?” His soft voice enters my ears. I turn to see him. He looks even smaller than normal in the candle light. I shrug with tears forming in my eyes. He comes closer and sits beside me on the sofa.

“I don’t want to do this anymore.” I whisper, barely even wanting to say it. My eyes meet his. They’re alit with warm understanding.

“Everyone’s leaving and I don’t think I can pretend that I’m ok anymore…” I look down. “But, I don’t think I can just give up either, I mean I’ve been doing this almost my whole life.” He looks away.

“I know, but we can do it.” He says, but I can hear the insecurity in his voice.

“But”-

“She would want us to finish this.” He interrupts.  The tears begin to overflow and one slowly rolls down my cheek.

“But she’s gone! She’s the whole reason any of us are here and she’s gone!” Another tear falls. He pulls me into a hug.

“I’m afraid too.” He whispers. “I want to give up too…” I pull away and he puts his hands on my shoulders.

“But we can’t,”

“Why not? Why can’t we just forget the world?” I ask, although I already know why. He sighs. I’m almost sobbing now and I can see tears slowly forming in his eyes, as well. I stare at the ground, remembering everything that’s happened, everyone that’s come and gone. All the pain.

“Don’t think about the pain,” My eyes flicker to him and brown locks with blue. For a moment, I’m lost in the strange warmth of that icy blue. I think of three words. Three words I haven’t thought of in a long time. Three words that are said too much. Three words that aren’t said enough. Three words that don’t mean enough yet, three words that mean everything.

“I love you,” His whisper pulls me out of the trance. A single tear falls and it’s as though the warmth of those three words is melting the icy blue. As I watch that drop of sadness fall, I realize something. Something important. Something I should’ve realized a long time ago. For a moment, I say nothing. Then I lean in and slowly press my lips to his. When we pull away, I’m still crying but I’ve temporarily forgotten the pain.

Those three words are said too much and not enough.

“I love you,” I say and for a second, just a second I think maybe everything’s going to be okay.

Well, thanks for reading! Here are the lyrics to the Chasing Cars cover by Sleeping at Last.

Chasing Cars

Sleeping at Last

We’ll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don’t need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don’t quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
And not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

Let’s waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see

I don’t know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Life is Beautiful: A short story

Life Is Beautiful

That tree.

It was so strange. I could never stop thinking about it. Why was it so different from the rest of the world!?

Before she died, my grandmother used to tell me stories about it, that her father had told her. She used to say that it was magical, that it was a sign of hope for our people. She said it meant that one day the rest of the land would look like that tree. I always tried to imagine what the whole world would look like in the strange color of that tree. Today I was on my way home from hunting some penguins, when I decided to stop at the tree. My grandmother would always call it Isonei, which she said meant life in some ancient language. I put down the dead penguins and looked at Isonei. I contemplated it’s existence. Why are you here? I thought. I know you are supposed to be a sign of hope but still… how are we supposed to believe that?! I stood staring at it for a little while longer. I then began the trek home. When I arrived an amazing aroma washed over me.

“Allen, is that you? Do you have the penguin?” My mother called from the kitchen.

“Yeah it’s me. I have the penguin.” I followed the wonderful scent of dinner cooking to the small room which made our kitchen. I handed her the penguin which she proceeded to skin. She pulled out the bones, cut out the meat, dipped the meat in a small bucket of wine to clean it and chopped it up.

When the food was ready we ate and went to bed with happy stomachs.

The next morning, I went out and sold what was left of the penguins to the shopkeeper near our house. Since I had nothing else to do for the rest of the day, I decided to visit the tree once more. I sat down in the snow which had been layered on top of itself over and over again throughout the centuries. I sat there, thinking and staring at the grey sky for what felt like hours, but probably wasn’t that long. Suddenly, the ground began to rumble beneath me. I hurried to my feet, startled. Isonei grew taller and taller until it seemed to be ten feet tall. The snow began to melt beneath my feet and the sky became a strange color I had never seen before. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Well the only other “beautiful” thing I had ever seen was a girl who had moved to our town four years before, with golden hair and deep brown eyes. But this. This color was like the feeling you get when you’re so full of joy that you can’t contain it! It was so amazing!

I turned to look at the ground and gasped. It was no longer covered in the pure white of the snow. It was now something so much more amazing. I leaned down to touch it and it tickled my hand. This stuff on the ground felt and looked like the stuff that was on the tree, but somehow different. I ran home and everything there had the same beautiful colors. Everyone was dancing and laughing, it was amazing. My mother ran to me and said,

“It’s just as the old legends said! The sky is the blue that was foretold in the stories!”

Blue! So that was it’s name. What an amazing color!

An old woman yelled, “The Isonei prophecy has come true! Let us celebrate!”

From that day on, life was beautiful. It was no longer the dreary sad land that we had always known. Now there was isonei everywhere.
