An Aquamarine Dream

Just a random poem-type thing that popped into my head today…

The deep blue waters flood over me, they fill my throat.

I don’t know what else I thought would come out of this.

I guess none of it matters anymore…

I always thought I would die a glorious death, but maybe he was right; maybe no death is glorious.

Maybe what matters most is something completely opposite than what I thought it was.

As I sink lower, the physical pain I’m feeling seems numb compared to the sudden jerk of emotion filling my heart… or is it just the turquoise liquid filling my lungs.

I always loved the water…

Who would’ve thought it would be my murderer.

Suddenly, I feel like crying. Suddenly, my gaze begins to rip itself out of this apathetic, surrealism.

I think one thought, as the chains pulling me lower yank at my heart.

I’ve changed my mind…

I want out of this aquamarine dream.

What Does It Mean??

Great presentation of the Gospel by one of my favorite blogs!

What does it mean to really have a relationship with Jesus?

When I think about this question, all I can think about is a friendship, but not just any kind of friendship. A strong, intimately connected friendship where both people are able to relate on some level or another. The definition of relationship, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary states that a relationship is the way in which two or more people, groups, countries, etc., talk to, behave toward, and deal with each other. Now, just like anything, there are positive and negative relationships. The kind of relationship I am describing is one that is positive and edifying to the ones involved. The kind of relationship I am describing closely resembles the relationship that God wishes to have with us (His creation, His children) through His son Jesus Christ.

This relationship is one where you can go to one another and…

Prayer for the Persecuted

Hey everyone!

This is in honor of those being persecuted and/or oppressed. Those in the Middle East, North Korea, and many other places around the world. I consider it a Psalm-like poem. It is also a prayer, but most of all, it is just me, burdened and crying out to the Lord.

O’ Lord Jesus!

How oppressed are your people!

Save them from the darkness and horrors of their enemies.

Give them your peace, O’ God!

Deliver them out of the hands of these wicked men!

Put wisdom into the minds of those who might deliver them.

Soften the hearts of their enemies, that they might let them go.

Convict these wicked men of their iniquity,

Show them the horrors they have committed.

O’ Lord who judges justly, O’ God who saves,

Rescue your people out of their dark valleys.

Deliver them from the paths of evil men.

Put wisdom into the hearts of fools,

Put knowledge into the minds of the foolish.

Shepherd your sheep, O’ God!

O’ God who is most high.

O’ mighty and all powerful Lord of all,

Deliver your people that they may praise you.

That even your enemies would bring glory to your name!

For you are most high!

For you are a God of justice and mercy!

For you are due all glory and honor and praise!

Three Words

Hey everyone!

This is a random scene that I came up with while listening to the Chasing Cars cover by Sleeping at Last. This is basically a romantic scene because it’s a love song. I might write a full story based of of it someday. I encourage you to listen to the song while reading it. Here’s the video.

Well without further ado…

She’s gone.

She’s gone for good.

Everyone’s gone.

I’m scared.

No. I’m petrified.

“You okay?” His soft voice enters my ears. I turn to see him. He looks even smaller than normal in the candle light. I shrug with tears forming in my eyes. He comes closer and sits beside me on the sofa.

“I don’t want to do this anymore.” I whisper, barely even wanting to say it. My eyes meet his. They’re alit with warm understanding.

“Everyone’s leaving and I don’t think I can pretend that I’m ok anymore…” I look down. “But, I don’t think I can just give up either, I mean I’ve been doing this almost my whole life.” He looks away.

“I know, but we can do it.” He says, but I can hear the insecurity in his voice.

“She would want us to finish this.” He interrupts.  The tears begin to overflow and one slowly rolls down my cheek.

“But she’s gone! She’s the whole reason any of us are here and she’s gone!” Another tear falls. He pulls me into a hug.

“I’m afraid too.” He whispers. “I want to give up too…” I pull away and he puts his hands on my shoulders.

“But we can’t,”

“Why not? Why can’t we just forget the world?” I ask, although I already know why. He sighs. I’m almost sobbing now and I can see tears slowly forming in his eyes, as well. I stare at the ground, remembering everything that’s happened, everyone that’s come and gone. All the pain.

“Don’t think about the pain,” My eyes flicker to him and brown locks with blue. For a moment, I’m lost in the strange warmth of that icy blue. I think of three words. Three words I haven’t thought of in a long time. Three words that are said too much. Three words that aren’t said enough. Three words that don’t mean enough yet, three words that mean everything.

“I love you,” His whisper pulls me out of the trance. A single tear falls and it’s as though the warmth of those three words is melting the icy blue. As I watch that drop of sadness fall, I realize something. Something important. Something I should’ve realized a long time ago. For a moment, I say nothing. Then I lean in and slowly press my lips to his. When we pull away, I’m still crying but I’ve temporarily forgotten the pain.

Those three words are said too much and not enough.

“I love you,” I say and for a second, just a second I think maybe everything’s going to be okay.

Well, thanks for reading! Here are the lyrics to the Chasing Cars cover by Sleeping at Last.

Chasing Cars

Sleeping at Last

We’ll do it all
On our own

We don’t need
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don’t quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
And not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

Let’s waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see

I don’t know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

He does a great job! Sleeping at Last is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists, his voice is just beautiful.
